The “Proof of Work” waxed-cotton rain coat jacket is designed to be functional and look amazing with minimalist lines. Waxed cotton is a natural treatment that is extremely water repellent and wind resistant, yet maintaining the breathability of the cotton. Proper care of your Tone Edition “Proof of Work” raincoat is necessary to increase the life and to keep it waterproof.
Cleaning and Care Instructions
Waxed cotton must not be machine washed or dry cleaned. It should be kept away from hot water and harsh detergents that will remove the wax from the cotton. When you get dirty spots on your raincoat, rinse dirt by hand with cold water and air dry or use a damp cloth or soft brush to gently remove the spots. You should re-wax the area and hang it in a warm place to air dry..
Do not machine wash. Do not dry clean. Do not iron. Do not bleach. Do not use heat to dry. Do not expose to open flames or hang on heaters.
Rewaxing
Throughout the life of your waxed cotton raincoat, it may need to be rewaxed. If your raincoat has dry patches, rewax will bring back the water proofing. To rewax, take a clean cloth and a small amount of wax and apply a thin layer to the garment in circular motions. Wipe off any excess and hang your raincoat somewhere warm and dry. You can use a hairdryer to melt the wax and make sure it is even. It is not necessary to rewax the whole raincoat.
